As the new President for 2020 I thought I would take this opportunity to say a few words to my fellow golfers during this difficult time.

I am most proud and honoured to have been elected but certainly had no conception of what was to follow almost immediately after taking office with golf clubs and clubhouses being closed. To see the UK in lockdown, schools closed, businesses closed, and all sporting activities curtailed is hard.  Thankfully we are seeing so many good things and people pulling together and looking after each other. It certainly puts our disappointment at not being able to play golf into perspective.

We have no idea how long this crisis resulting in isolation, social distancing and closure is going to last but our administration team will continue to monitor updates from National Bodies and Government Health Organisations in order to share information and best practice for the benefit of the golfing community in Lancashire.

I look forward to a time when we can return to some ‘normality’ and I can embrace my role as President in the usual way. We will get through this difficult time that we all face and then our golf and social life will be even more precious and appreciated.

I wish you the members, your families and friends, Good Health.

Harry Tunnicliffe
