About
Welcome to Lancashire Golf. Firstly I would like to say I am truly honoured and delighted to be elected as President of Lancashire Golf for 2026.
I have been involved in golf most of my life, having started at Fairhaven Golf Club some 55 years ago. I was fortunate enough to be Captain in 2003, served on the Board and was Chairman of Greens for 3 years. I volunteered for the county in 2012 as a referee and for the last 11 years I have been a course rater, chairing the team from 2021 until 2024.
What a wonderful year for Lancashire Golf with two of our clubs hosting the most prestigious major professional golf championships. In July Royal Birkdale Golf Club will host the Open Championship and in August Royal Lytham Golf Club will host the AIG Women’s Open.
At amateur elite county level the Men’s 1st team will be holding matches at Ormskirk and Lytham Green Drive. The Women’s 1st team will play their match week at Eaglescliffe Golf Club in June. All the fixture dates can be found on the website.
Throughout the season Lancashire Golf will also hold many events around the county. The Women’s Championship will be held at Wilpshire Golf Club on the 24th,25th and 26th of May. Following the women the men play their championship at Manchester Golf Club on the 29th,30th and 31st of May. Junior boys will play at Chidwall Golf Club and Junior girls at Ormskirk Golf Club. The Seniors Championship will be held at Pleasington Golf club on the 10th and 11th of June. You will be made most welcome at all of these clubs.
We have a number of Lancashire golf member events running throughout the season. The Men’s Collinge Trophy 4BBB competition and the Bell Trophy which is a singles competition. The finals of these events will be played at Ormskirk Golf Club in September. For the women there is the Elsie Corlett Summer Meeting at Rossendale Golf Club.
Lancashire pride themselves on promoting golf at all levels. providing pathways for juniors all the way through to senior golf. Please browse the fixture list to see if you would like to play in or watch any of the events, alternatively you can contact the Office which is led by our Chief Executive Stuart.
Last year for the first time we held a disability championship at Lytham Green Drive Golf Club and we are delighted to be returning for the event this year on the 10th and 11th of September.
Like many organisations Lancashire Golf is run by volunteers and we are always on the lookout for members who would like to help in supporting competitions and golf in general. Please contact the office if this is something you would like to offer.
I wish everybody a wonderful golfing season and hope to see you out on the course.
