Lancashire in pole position in Northern Counties League

LANCASHIRE maintained their 100 per cent record in the Daily Telegraph
Northern Counties League when they defeated Northumberland 11-7 at Alnmouth
to take pole position in the table, writes DAVID BIRTILL.
They edged the foursomes by a single point then asserted their authority
early in the singles by winning three of the opening four ties through Luke
Kelly, Henry Tomlinson and John Carroll.
The hosts hit back to reduce the margin to one point at the mid-way stage
but the Red Rose men stepped up a gear to comfortably get over the line.
Reigning champions Yorkshire came unstuck at Sandiway where Cheshire
prevailed 10-8.
The foursomes were shared but the hosts won three and halved one of the
opening singles which kept them in the ascendancy.
Elsewhere, Cumbria beat Durham 11-7 at Barnard Castle.
