Lancashire Men v Lancashire Ladies
Ashton under Lyne Golf Club Sunday 15th April 2012
On a bright but cold Sunday, Lancashire Men and Lancashire Ladies played their annual fixture with Ashton under Lyne Golf Club being the host club. Both sides contained experienced County golfers and the day’s golf was extremely competitive with the Ladies winning the match by half a point. Some noticeable results from the singles matches were Emily Taylor beating Mark Young 5 & 4, Nicola Rawlinson beating Steve McGlynn 3 & 2 and Michael Hunt beating Brogan Townend by one hole.
The course had been prepared to a high standard, considering the time of year and the fact that there had been a severe frost overnight. The Club officials ensured that both County teams and officials were given the highest hospitality possible to ensure all who attended the match had a memorable day.
President of LUGC Les Wilson had the honour of presenting the trophy to LLCGA County Captain Val Moran on behalf of the winning Ladies team. This was the second year running that the Ladies team had beaten the Men who have vowed to regain it in 2013. |
