Help for your key club leaders to understand the benefits of a sustainability plan and the strategies required to cope with the impact of climate change.
Tuesday 14th March 2023 – 10.00am to 2.00pm
at Hurlston Hall Golf Club, Hurlston Lane, Scarisbrick, Ormskirk, L40 8HB
The Lancashire Union of Golf Clubs invites you to register up to a maximum of 3 delegates to join our first ever conference on sustainability. This is a huge subject and we will seek to help you identify some of the key issues and risks clubs need to understand and how to start developing your strategy for the future viability of your course and club.
The focus of this launch event is around the course and the green environment so we would encourage clubs to register their Course Manager and Chair of Greens or similar roles, perhaps together with the Chair of the Board or General Manager.
The speakers at the conference will be;
Alistair Beggs - Head of Agronomy at The R&A
A highly respected figure in the course management community, a scientific professional with a passion for golf who leads the R&A team to deliver sustainable excellence at host venues and potential host venues for R&A Championships.
James Hutchinson - BIGGA Ecology and Sustainability Expert
BIGGA’s lead in supporting course management professionals and golf clubs with environmental, ecological, woodland and grassland management.
Dr John Fry - Lead Researcher and Lecturer in Sport at Myerscough College
Lead on research commissioned by the R&A to address the challenges posed by climate change, resource constraints and regulation on golf course conditioning and playability and to provide best practice in sustainability to those working in golf course management.
Owen James - England Golf Sustainability Officer
Leading the delivery of England Golf’s sustainability plan, launched in June 2022. The sustainability team work to provide resources, recommendations and advice to clubs to ensure that England Golf’s commitment to sustainability becomes embedded into golf across the country.
