Carroll back in top spot

JOHN Carroll returned to the scene of former glory when he regained pole
position the Galvin Green Northern Order of Merit after finishing third in
the Hulbert Trophy at Manchester, writes DAVID BIRTILL.
The Huyton & Prescot plus one player won the Lancashire County Championship
at the Middleton club in 2011 but on this occasion bragging rights went to
Mottram Hall's Michael Harrington who compiled rounds of 68 and 71 for a
five-under-par total containing nine birdies all told.
Carroll, a shot adrift, conceded second spot on countback to county
team-mate Paul McFerran, from Warrington.
Northenden's Sam Prince, defending the title, finished sixth to move into
second place in the table 30 points off the pace.
