MARK Ashworth shredded the course record at Ormskirk with a stunning final round of seven-under-par 63 to win the Lancashire County Championship.
The Clitheroe plus three ranked player left the chasing pack in his wake as he birdied the first five holes.
His run ended with a bogey at the sixth by which time he was well ahead of his challengers.
Manchester’s Joe Brice, the first round leader with a 66, saw his hopes effectively ended when he triple bogeyed the third to close on 79 for a share of third place with Ashton-under-Lyne’s Luke Kelly.
Reece Cranfield, from Wigan finished runner-up, nine off the pace, after posting 71.
