The President and Board of the Lancashire Union of Golf Clubs are pleased to announce that their nomination as President for 2017/2018 will be:-

Dr. Steven Reid

of 

Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club 

Dr Steven Reid, a retired General Medical Practitioner has accepted the nomination to be President of the Lancashire Union of Golf Clubs for 2017/18. Dr Reid has been a member of Royal Lytham and St Annes Golf Club since 1965, and served as Captain in 1996, an Open Championship year. 

Steven was Chief Medical Officer to the R&A, retiring from that position after the Walker Cup in 2015. As a historian he has written several books including 'Bobby's Open', which won the 2013 Times Sports Book of the Year, an account of the Open Championship in 1926 when Bobby Jones hit that famous shot from the bunker at the 17th hole to help him win the championship, and where a plaque to commemorate the shot can be seen in the bunker concerned. 

He will take office on the first Tuesday March 2017.
